Indian Army Recruitment 2026
The Indian Army has issued zone-wise official notifications for the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) 2026 under the Agniveer recruitment process through the Agnipath Scheme for the Recruiting Year 2027. The Army Recruiting Offices located at Narangi, Shillong, and Jorhat have invited online applications from eligible unmarried male candidates who are permanent residents of various districts of Assam.
The online application process for Indian Army Agniveer Recruitment 2026 commenced on 13 February 2026, and candidates can submit their applications until 1 April 2026. The Online Common Entrance Examination (CEE) is tentatively scheduled to be conducted from 1 June to 15 June 2026. Educational Qualification
Agniveer (General Duty): Candidates must have passed the Class 10th/Matric examination with at least 45% aggregate marks and 33% marks in each subject. For Indian Gorkha candidates, a simple pass in Class 10th is sufficient. Applicants possessing a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) or Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) Driving License will be given preference for driver-related posts.
Agniveer (Technical): Candidates should have passed the 10+2/Intermediate examination in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English, securing a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and 40% in each subject. Alternatively, candidates with 10+2 Science along with a one-year ITI course (NSQF Level 4 or above), or 10th pass with 50% aggregate plus a two-year ITI certificate or a two/three-year Diploma in specified technical trades are also eligible.
Agniveer Clerk/Store Keeper Technical: Applicants must have passed the 10+2/Intermediate examination in any stream (Arts, Commerce, or Science) with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks and at least 50% in each subject. It is mandatory to secure 50% marks in English and Mathematics/Accounts/Book Keeping in Class XII.
Agniveer Tradesmen (10th Pass): Candidates must have passed the Class 10th examination with a minimum of 33% marks in each of the five basic subjects.
Agniveer Tradesmen (8th Pass): Candidates should have passed the Class 8th examination with at least 33% marks in each of the five basic subjects.
Note: Candidates may apply for up to two Agniveer categories in addition to Regular Entry categories, subject to meeting the required eligibility criteria. Applicants who have appeared in the Class 10th, Class 12th Board Examination, NIOS, or ITI course and are awaiting their results are also eligible to apply.

Weight: The candidate’s weight should be proportionate to his height and age as per the prevailing recruitment policy.

Exit After 4 Years: After successfully completing four years of service, Agniveers will be entitled to receive an approximate Seva Nidhi package of Rs 10.04 lakh (excluding accrued interest).
Insurance Coverage: During the service tenure, Agniveers will be covered under a non-contributory life insurance scheme providing coverage of Rs 48 lakh.
Permanent Enrollment: Based on merit and organizational requirements, up to 25% of Agniveers from each batch may be absorbed into the regular cadre of the Indian Army.

Step 5: Select up to five preferred examination centres. However, allocation of centres other than your selected options may occur due to administrative reasons.
Step 6: Upload a recent passport-sized photograph that clearly reflects your current appearance. Any mismatch in the photograph may result in rejection of the application.

Recruitment Process of Indian Army
The Indian Army Agniveer Recruitment process is conducted in two distinct phases. Phase I comprises the Online Common Entrance Examination (CEE), which will be held at designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the country. The examination will be conducted in 13 different languages. Candidates must successfully qualify in the CEE to become eligible for the next stage.
Phase II involves the Recruitment Rally conducted by the respective Army Recruiting Offices (AROs) at notified rally venues. In this stage, shortlisted candidates will undergo Physical Fitness Tests (PFT), medical examinations, and document verification as part of the final selection procedure.

Phase I (Online CEE)

Question Format: The examination will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
Negative Marking: A penalty of 25% of the allotted marks will be deducted for each incorrect response.

Phase II (Recruitment Rally)
Candidates will be shortlisted for Phase II based on the cut-off marks secured in the written examination, in proportion to the number of vacancies available. The roll numbers of candidates qualifying on merit will be published on the official Join Indian Army website. Shortlisted candidates will be issued a second admit card for participation in the remaining stages of the recruitment process.
