Intelligence Bureau Recruitment

The Intelligence Bureau (IB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has released a notification for the direct recruitment of Indian citizens to the post of Security Assistant (Motor Transport) [SA(MT)]. A total of 455 vacancies are available across various Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux (SIBs) nationwide.

Pay Scale: Level-3 of the pay matrix (₹21,700 – ₹69,100) along with applicable Central Government allowances. A Special Security Allowance of 20% of basic pay and cash compensation for duty performed on holidays (up to a maximum of 30 days) are also provided.

Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

➣ Must have completed Matriculation (10th grade) from a recognized Board.
➣ Should possess a valid Motor Car (LMV) driving licence issued by the authorized authority.
➣ Basic understanding of motor mechanisms, capable of fixing minor vehicle issues.
➣ Minimum one year of driving experience with a valid Motor Car licence.
➣ Must have a domicile certificate of the state for which the application is submitted.

Desirable Qualification: Candidates should hold a valid driving licence for a Motorcycle, issued by the competent authority.

Age Limit: Applicants must be between 18 and 27 years of age as of 28 September 2025.

Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates and by 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Selection Process

The selection for the Security Assistant (Motor Transport) [SA(MT)] post will be conducted in two stages, ensuring a fair and transparent evaluation of all eligible candidates across the country.

Tier-I (Online Exam): This stage will consist of an objective-type MCQ test carrying 100 marks, with a duration of 1 hour. A negative marking of ¼ mark will be applied for each wrong answer. The exam will be divided into the following five sections:

Tier-II (Motor Mechanism & Driving Test cum Interview): Candidates shortlisted from Tier-I will be called for this test, which carries 50 marks. This tier is qualifying in nature, and candidates must score at least 20 marks to pass. It will assess the candidate’s practical knowledge of vehicle mechanics, ability to repair minor defects, and driving skills. Final selection will depend on the combined performance in Tier-I and Tier-II, provided the candidate qualifies in Tier-II.

How to apply for IB Recruitment?

Eligible candidates can submit their applications online via the official Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) website or the National Career Service (NCS) portal. The application process consists of two main steps: registration and completion of the application form.

During registration, applicants must provide their personal and contact details to obtain a login ID and password. Once registered, they should log in again to complete the detailed application form, which includes educational qualifications and other necessary information. Candidates are also required to upload a recent passport-sized photograph (50–100 KB, taken within the last 12 weeks) and a scanned copy of their signature (50–100 KB).

Finally, applicants must pay the prescribed application fee online using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
