Selection Process for Group D Recruitment

The RRB Group D Recruitment 2025 selection process consists of multiple stages, including the Computer-Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification (DV), and Medical Examination (ME). Each stage is crucial for evaluating candidates’ eligibility, skills, and physical fitness, ensuring that only qualified applicants progress to the final selection. The detailed steps are outlined below:

1. Computer-Based Test (CBT)

The first stage of the RRB Group D selection process is the Computer-Based Test (CBT), conducted online. Candidates must answer 100 objective-type questions within 90 minutes. For candidates with disabilities (PwBD) using a scribe, the allotted time is extended to 120 minutes.

The CBT exam is organized as follows:

Subject Questions Marks
General Science 25 25
Mathematics 25 25
General Intelligence & Reasoning 30 30
General Awareness & Current Affairs 20 20
Total 100 100

Negative Marking: Candidates should be aware that 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Qualifying Marks: The minimum qualifying marks for the RRB Group D CBT are 40% for General/EWS candidates and 30% for OBC/SC/ST candidates. For PwBD candidates, the minimum qualifying marks may be relaxed by 2% in case of a shortage of qualified candidates for reserved vacancies.

2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates who perform well in the CBT and secure a rank within three times the total number of vacancies will qualify for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). The PET is a qualifying stage, and candidates must meet the following requirements:

Weight Carrying:
Male Candidates: 35 kg over 100 meters in 2 minutes.
Female Candidates: 20 kg over 100 meters in 2 minutes.

Running:
Male Candidates: 1,000 meters in 4 minutes 15 seconds.
Female Candidates: 1,000 meters in 5 minutes 40 seconds.

Candidates with benchmark disabilities (PwBD), Ex-Servicemen, and Course Completed Act Apprentices are exempt from the PET. However, PwBD candidates must successfully clear the medical examination.

3. Documents Verification (DV)

Candidates who successfully qualify in the PET will be shortlisted for Document Verification (DV). The number of candidates called for this stage will match the total number of vacancies on a 1:1 basis. During DV, educational qualifications, community certificates, and other relevant documents will be thoroughly checked.

In case of a tie, priority will be given first to older candidates. If the age is the same, the alphabetical order of the candidate’s name will be considered.

4. Medical Examination (ME)

The final stage of the selection process is the Medical Examination (ME), conducted by the Railway Administration. Only candidates who successfully pass this fitness test will be eligible for final appointment to the posts.

Important Note

Normalization of Marks: If the CBT is conducted in multiple sessions, marks will be normalized to maintain fairness across all candidates.

Appointment: The final appointment of candidates is subject to the approval and discretion of the Railway Administration.

Preparation for PET: Candidates are required to be physically fit before appearing for the PET, as the Railways will not be responsible for any injuries occurring during the test.
