ADRE 3.0 Exam Syllabus

The Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) is a major recruitment process conducted by the Government of Assam to fill Grade III and Grade IV posts in different state departments. Thousands of candidates apply for this examination as it offers government job opportunities across various categories under the State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC).

The official syllabus for ADRE 3.0 has not been released yet. However, based on the syllabus and structure used in previous ADRE examinations, the subjects and exam pattern are expected to remain largely similar. In this article, we have explained the expected syllabus, subject-wise topics, and exam pattern for different categories of the ADRE examination.

ADRE 3.0 Exam Syllabus Details

Exam Name: Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE 3.0)

Post Categories: Grade III and Grade IV

Recruiting Organization: State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC)

Exam Conducting Board: Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), formerly SEBA

Mode of Examination: Offline (OMR-based written test)

The ADRE examination is conducted through five different written papers. Out of these, three papers are meant for Grade III posts and two papers are designed for Grade IV posts. Each paper is prepared according to the educational qualification required for the respective post category, and candidates appear only for the paper related to their applied post.

ADRE Grade III Syllabus

The ADRE Grade III examination is organized into three different categories according to educational qualification: Driver (HSLC), Higher Secondary (HSSLC), and Bachelor’s Degree (Graduation). Each category follows its own exam structure, including differences in subjects and marks allocation.

For all three categories, the written test lasts 3 hours and includes a total of 150 multiple choice questions (MCQs). The complete syllabus, subject-wise details, and marks distribution for each category are explained below.

ADRE Driver (HSLC) Exam Pattern

Exam Name: ADRE Driver (HSLC) Examination

Exam Duration: 3 Hours (180 Minutes)

Question Format: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

Total Questions: 150

Maximum Marks: 150

Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer in a 1-mark question.

Subjects Covered: Social Studies, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability, General English, General Mathematics, and Road Transport.

Note: This exam is for candidates applying for Driver posts under Grade III. The Road Transport section includes topics related to traffic rules, vehicle regulations, and road safety. The number of questions may vary slightly, but the total will remain 150.

ADRE Bachelor’s Degree (Graduation) Exam Pattern

Exam Duration: 3 Hours (180 Minutes)

Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

Total Questions: 150

Total Marks: 175

Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer to a 1-mark question, while a wrong answer to a 2-mark question will deduct 0.50 marks.

Subjects Covered: Social Studies, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability, General Mathematics, General English, and Reading Comprehension & English Language.

Note: In the Bachelor’s Degree level exam, the total marks (175) are higher than the number of questions (150) because the 25 Reading Comprehension and English Language questions carry 2 marks each. A wrong answer in this section deducts 0.50 marks.

ADRE Grade IV Syllabus

The ADRE Grade IV exam has two categories based on qualification: Class VIII and Class X (Matriculation). Both categories follow the same subjects and the written test carries a total of 135 marks.

The Class VIII syllabus is based on the Elementary School Pass level prescribed by SCERT, Assam, while the Class X category follows the HSLC syllabus of the Board of Secondary Education, Assam. ITI pass candidates from approved institutes in trades like Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Machinist, Wireman, and Electronics Mechanic are also eligible under the Class X category.

Candidates with qualifications higher than HSSLC (Class XII) are not eligible to apply for Grade IV posts.

ADRE Class VIII Level Exam Pattern

Exam Name: ADRE Class VIII Level Examination

Exam Duration: 2 Hours 30 Minutes (150 Minutes)

Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

Total Questions: 135

Total Marks: 135

Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Subjects Covered: English, Social Studies, Mathematics, General Knowledge, Mental Ability, and Logical Reasoning.

ADRE Class X (Matriculation) Exam Pattern

Exam Name: ADRE Class X (Matriculation) Examination

Exam Duration: 2 Hours 30 Minutes (150 Minutes)

Question Format: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

Total Questions: 135

Total Marks: 135

Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Subjects Included: English, Social Studies, Mathematics, General Knowledge, Mental Ability, and Logical Reasoning.

Note: Both Grade IV exams follow the same pattern with 135 questions carrying 1 mark each and a duration of 2 hours 30 minutes. The main difference is the difficulty level—Class VIII follows the SCERT elementary syllabus, while Class X is based on the SEBA HSLC standard.
