Assam Direct Recruitment 3.0
The Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) is a key recruitment initiative conducted by the Government of Assam for filling Grade III and Grade IV posts. The recruitment process was first launched in 2022 and is managed by the State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC), constituted under the Assam Direct Recruitment for Class-III and Class-IV Analogous Posts Rules, 2022.
So far, two phases of ADRE have been successfully completed, and aspirants are now awaiting the third phase of the recruitment drive. The upcoming Assam Direct Recruitment 3.0 is expected to be conducted in 2026. According to multiple statements made by the Chief Minister of Assam, the official ADRE 3.0 notification is likely to be released in November 2025.

ADRE 3.0 Details
Post Name: Grade III and Grade IV

ADRE Educational Qualification
The Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) consolidates vacancies from various departments of the Government of Assam. Therefore, the required educational qualifications differ depending on the type of post. The category-wise qualification details are provided below.
Grade-IV Vacancies
In ADRE, Grade-IV posts are divided into three categories. The educational qualifications required for each category are as follows:
Class VIII: Candidates who have studied up to Class VIII are eligible for these vacancies.
HSLC (Class X): Candidates who have passed HSLC (Class X) or an equivalent examination are eligible for these vacancies.
HSLC with ITI: Candidates who have passed HSLC (Class X) or an equivalent examination, along with an ITI certificate in the trade of Wireman, Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Machinist, or Electronics Mechanic from a Government of Assam-approved institute, are eligible for these vacancies.
Important Note: The highest educational qualification permitted for Grade-IV vacancies is HSSLC (Class XII) or its equivalent. Candidates with qualifications exceeding this are not eligible to apply for ADRE Grade-IV positions.
Grade-III Vacancies
Under ADRE, Grade-III posts are divided into three categories. The educational requirements for each category are outlined below.
HSLC (Class X): Candidates who have cleared HSLC (Class X) or an equivalent exam and hold a valid LMV Driving Licence are eligible to apply for driver vacancies.
HSSLC (Class XII): There are two types of vacancies based on educational qualifications, as shown in the table below:

ADRE 3.0 Application Fee
In the first edition of ADRE, the State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC) charged an application fee for the examination. However, in the second edition, the fee was waived, and applications were accepted free of cost. For ADRE 3.0 (2026), it is likely that there will be no application fee. How to Apply for ADRE 2026?
Applications for the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) will be accepted online through the official web portal of the State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC). The online application link will be available on the official websites of ASSEB (Division-I) and the Government of Assam. For your convenience, we will also provide direct links to the application portal in the “Important Links” section of this article. Complete step-by-step instructions for submitting the ADRE 2026 application online are provided below.
1. Online Registration
The first step for candidates is to complete the online registration process. This registration is a combined process for both Grade-III and Grade-IV vacancies, allowing applicants to apply for multiple posts after completing a single registration. The combined registration system was introduced from ADRE 2.0 to minimize overlapping applications and streamline the process.
During registration, candidates must provide key personal details, including their full name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, email address, Assam Employment Exchange registration number, and mobile number. It is important to use an active mobile number, as an OTP will be sent to it and must be verified to complete the registration successfully.
2. Online Application
After completing the registration, candidates must proceed to the online application process. They should select the appropriate post category—Grade-III or Grade-IV—while submitting their application. To begin, candidates need to log in to the application portal using the Employment Exchange registration number and mobile number provided during registration.
Once logged in, the application form will appear. Candidates are required to fill in all necessary details, including the post types they are applying for, personal information such as caste, gender, PwD status, ex-serviceman status, nationality, religion, communication address, Aadhaar details, preferred exam centers, educational qualifications, and driving license information (if applicable).
After entering all information, candidates must upload a scanned passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size. They will then create a password for future login to their account. Before final submission, a preview of the completed application can be reviewed to ensure all details are correct. Once submitted, an application number will be displayed on the screen, and a confirmation SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number along with the password.
Candidates can use the application number and password to log in again and download the acknowledgment copy of their submitted application for future reference.

ADRE 3.0 Selection Process
The selection process for the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE 3.0) is straightforward and designed to ensure merit-based recruitment. The State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC) conducts written examinations tailored to the post category, also referred to as papers. For Grade-III posts, there are three papers, while Grade-IV posts have two papers, depending on the vacancy type.
Candidates who successfully clear the written examinations are then shortlisted for post-specific assessments. These may include a Skill Test, Driving Test, or Oral Test, depending on the nature of the post. Only those candidates who perform well in both the written examinations and the applicable post-specific tests will be appointed to the vacancies.

1. Written Examination
The State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC) conducts a written examination as the first stage of the ADRE 3.0 selection process.
A total of five exams are conducted for different post categories. The complete details of these exams are provided below.
Paper-I: This exam will be conducted for candidates who submit applications for HSLC (Class X) vacancies under the Grade-IV category.
Paper-II: This exam will be conducted for candidates who submit applications for Class VIII vacancies under the Grade-IV category.

For ADRE 3.0 2026, there is a possibility of changes in the exam pattern. Last year, the exams were almost conducted in two phases – Preliminary and Main – but following protests, the government reverted to the original format. This year, ADRE 3.0 may again adopt a two-phase structure. The preliminary phase could include objective questions, while the main exam may consist of detailed and comprehensive questions beyond MCQs. Official confirmation will be provided by the State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC) once the notification is released.
2. Skill Test, Driving Test, or Oral Test
Candidates who successfully qualify the Assam Direct Recruitment Examinations (ADRE) conducted by the State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC) will be called for the next stage, which may include a Skill Test, Driving Test, or Oral Test, depending on the post applied for.
For Grade-III vacancies, candidates might be required to appear for the Computer Skill Test, Stenography Test, Driving Skill Test, or an oral interview, based on the specific post category.
For Grade-IV vacancies, shortlisted candidates will be called for an oral interview only, as per the post requirements.
