Assam Government Holiday List 2026
The General Administration Department (GAD), Government of Assam, has released the official holiday calendar for the year 2026 following the approval of the Hon’ble Governor. As per the notification, all offices under the Assam Government, along with Revenue and Magisterial Courts across the state, will remain closed on the specified holidays.
The holiday list includes Gazetted Holidays, Restricted Holidays, and holidays applicable to banks and financial institutions. According to the notification issued on 17 November 2025, a total of 35 Gazetted Holidays have been declared for 2026. In addition, 35 Restricted Holidays have been notified, out of which government employees may choose any two. The notification also outlines Half Holidays and Special Casual Leave provisions for eligible employees.

Assam Government Holiday 2026 Details
Department: The holiday list has been issued by the General Administration Department, Government of Assam.
Gazetted Holidays: A total of 35 Gazetted Holidays have been officially notified for the year 2026.
Restricted Holidays: The list includes 35 Restricted Holidays, out of which government employees may avail any two days.
Half Holiday: One Half Holiday has been declared in 2026. Government offices will close at 1:00 PM on 25 October 2026 on the occasion of Lakshmi Puja.
Weekend Holidays: All 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month will be observed as holidays, while the remaining Saturdays will be full working days.

Matri Pitri Vandana Special Casual Leave
Employees of the Assam Government are eligible to take Special Casual Leave for observance of Matri Pitri Vandana. For the year 2026, the leave may be availed by selecting any one of the date sets given below.
First option: 9 July and 10 July 2026. These dates may be combined with 11 July 2026, the second Saturday, and 12 July 2026, which is a Sunday.
Second option: 23 July and 24 July 2026. These dates may be combined with 25 July 2026, the fourth Saturday, and 26 July 2026, which falls on a Sunday.
