The OBC Scholarship is one of the most effective educational scholarships offered by the Government of India. Under this scheme, eligible students from Other Backward Classes (OBC) can apply for financial assistance. Known as the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Scholarship Scheme, applications are accepted through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP)

Assam OBC Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
The OBC Scholarship Scheme accepts applications from two categories: Pre-Matric and Post-Matric, each with distinct eligibility requirements.Pre-Matric Scholarship: Students from Class 1 to Class 10 should apply under the Pre-Matric category.
Post-Matric Scholarship: Students in Class 11 or higher—including those in Higher Secondary, Graduation, Post-Graduation, and other advanced courses—must apply under the Post-Matric category.
Annual Family Income: Applicants are eligible if their family's annual income is below ₹2.5 lakh.
Permanent Residency: Students must be a permanent resident of Assam.
A valid OBC caste certificate is mandatory. Applications without this certificate will be rejected.

Assam OBC Scholarship Selection Process
All eligible Other Backward Classes candidates will be awarded scholarships subject to the eligibility conditions prescribed in Para No. III of the Scheme’s official notification. Candidates belonging to one state but studying in another state will be awarded scholarships by the state to which they belong and must submit their applications to the competent authorities in their home state. Regarding exemptions from fees or other concessions, these candidates will be treated as if they are studying in their state.
The selection process for the OBC Scholarship is as follows:
➥ Scholarships are awarded to all eligible OBC candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria.
➥ If a candidate belongs to one state but studies in another, they must apply through the authorities in their home state, which will also grant the scholarship.
➥ For fee exemptions or other concessions, such candidates will be treated as if they are studying in their own state
➥ Selection is generally based on merit and means, as per the official guidelines
How To Apply For Assam OBC Scholarship?
Starting from the 2024–25 academic session, the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) has introduced a One-Time Registration (OTR) system. As a result, the application process for the Ishan Uday Scholarship is now divided into two distinct stepa
1. One-Time Registration (OTR) on NSP
Students must first complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). After successful registration, a unique 14-digit OTR ID is issued, which will be used for all future scholarship applications. Only one OTR ID is allowed per student for their entire academic journey.
Requirements for OTR Registration:
Active Mobile Number: A valid number is required for OTP verification.
Aadhaar Card: Aadhaar is mandatory. If unavailable, students can use their Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID). For minors, Aadhaar of a parent or guardian can be used.
eKYC Completion: Face authentication via the NSP OTR App (available on Google Play Store) is required to complete eKYC and receive the OTR ID.
2. Scholarship Application Submission
Once the OTR ID is generated Follow the given below steps to complete application process

| » Navigate and click on the Online Application Form link. |
| » A new webpage will open. |
| » Log in using your OTR ID and Password. |
| » Fill the captcha and click on Login. |
| » Once logged in, click on Apply Fresh and fill out the application form. |
| » Upload all necessary documents. |
| » Carefully review the form and click on Submit. |
| » Take a printout of the submitted form for future reference. |
Note: If you are unable to take a printout of the submitted application form, please follow these steps on your device:
1. Navigate to the top-right corner of your browser.
2. Tap on the three-dot menu.
3. Scroll down and tap on the Share button.
4. From the sharing options, select Print.
5. Tap on it and wait for the page to fully load.
6. Once loaded, tap on the blue PDF icon to save the form.
7. The form will now be saved to your mobile storage.
Without completing OTR and eKYC, students will not be able to apply for any scholarship, including the Assam OBC Scholarship.
