Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme 2025

Starting from the 2024–25 academic session, the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) has introduced a One-Time Registration (OTR) system. As a result, the application process for the Ishan Uday Scholarship is now divided into two distinct step

1. One Time Registration

In the first step, students must complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) on the NSP portal.

Upon successful registration, each student will be issued a unique 14-digit OTR ID. This OTR ID is essential and will be used for submitting scholarship applications across academic years. A student is allowed only one OTR ID throughout their academic journey.

Requirements for OTR Registration

1. Active Mobile Number: A valid and active mobile number is mandatory for receiving OTPs and completing the registration.

2. Aadhaar Card: Aadhaar is compulsory for OTR registration.

If the student does not have Aadhaar yet, they can register using their Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID). In the case of minor students, Aadhaar of a parent or legal guardian can be used for registration.

3. eKYC Completion: Completing eKYC is mandatory to receive the OTR ID. Students must undergo face authentication for eKYC verification.

This can be done easily using the official NSP OTR App, available on the Google Play Store.

2. Scholarship Application Submission

Once the OTR ID is generated Follow the given below steps to complete application process
» Scroll down to the Important Web Links section.
» Navigate and click on the Online Application Form link.
» A new webpage will open.
» Log in using your User ID and Password.
» Fill the captcha and click on Login.
» Once logged in, click on Apply Fresh and fill out the application form.
» Upload all necessary documents.
» Carefully review the form and click on Submit.
» Take a printout of the submitted form for future reference.
Without completing OTR and eKYC, students will not be able to apply for any scholarship, including the Ishan Uday scheme.

Selection Process of Ishan Uday Scholarship

The selection process for the Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme is based on the following factors:

1. Number of Scholarships   A total of 10,000 fresh scholarships are awarded every year to eligible students from the North Eastern Region (NER).

2. Distribution of Slots   The allocation of scholarships among the NER states is done based on the latest population census. This ensures that the number of slots is proportionate to the population of each state.

3. Unfilled Slots : If any state is unable to fill its allocated slots due to a lack of eligible candidates, the remaining slots will be reallocated fairly among other NER states with eligible applicants.

4. Reservation for PwD   Reservations for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) are provided according to the Government of India norms.

The Ishan Uday Scholarship results are typically released in November or December of the same academic year. Students can access their results by logging into the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) using the OTR ID and password generated during registration. For additional reference, the list of selected candidates is also made available on the official UGC website.
