Eligibility for NEC Scholarship
Students are required to meet the specified eligibility conditions in their previous qualifying examination in order to be considered for the NEC Scholarship.
Resident-ship: Only students who are permanent residents of any North Eastern State are eligible to apply for this scholarship scheme.
Duration: The scholarship will be granted for the full duration of the course, provided renewal conditions under Para 6 are met. No extension beyond the prescribed period is allowed.
Other Scholarship Holder: Students already receiving financial assistance or scholarships from other sources are not eligible. Sponsored or employed candidates will also not be considered under this scheme.
Year of Awarding Scholarship: The scholarship is granted only in the first year of the course. In subsequent years, only renewals will be entertained based on eligibility and rules.
Courses: Students admitted to Diploma, Degree, Postgraduate, M.Phil, or Ph.D programs in government-recognized institutions can apply. For M.Phil and Ph.D, eligibility begins after official university registration. Internships or training programs are excluded.
Family Income: Applicants’ parents or guardians must have an annual income not exceeding ₹8.0 lakh from all sources. A valid income certificate from the competent authority must be submitted.
Educational Qualification for NEC Scholarship 2025
Diploma: Candidates must have passed HSLC, HSSLC, Secondary, or Senior Secondary examination from a recognized State or Central board with at least 60% aggregate marks.
Degree: Applicants should have successfully cleared HSSLC or Senior Secondary examination from a recognized State or Central board with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate.
Postgraduate: Students must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (BA, BSc, B.Tech, BE, MBBS, LLB, BCA, BBA, etc.) from a recognized university or institute with a minimum of 60% marks overall.
M.Phil./Ph.D: Applicants must possess a postgraduate degree in any field from a recognized university with at least 60% marks in aggregate to be eligible.
