Assam NMMS exam 2025

The Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam has released the official notification for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Examination 2025. As per the announcement, students currently studying in Class VIII are invited to submit online applications for the scholarship exam scheduled to be held on 15th November 2025 across Assam. This examination is sponsored by the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria for NMMS Exam 2025

To apply for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) in Assam, students must meet the following eligibility conditions:

Class Level: The applicant must be a Class VIII (8th Standard) student during the academic session 2025–26.

School Type: Only students enrolled in Government and Provincialised schools (under the Department of School Education, Government of Assam) are eligible to receive the scholarship.

Ineligible Schools: Students studying in Private Schools, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) can appear for the exam but are not eligible for the scholarship benefit.

Regular Attendance: The student must have a good academic record and maintain regular attendance as per school norms.

Previous Scholarship Status: Students already availing of any other central or state-funded scholarship are not eligible for NMMS.

Minimum Marks Requirement (from previous class): Applicants should have secured at least 55% marks in Class VII (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST students).

About Assam.NMMS Scholarship

Students who successfully qualify the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Examination will be entitled to receive a scholarship of Rs 12,000 per annum. This financial support is provided for a period of four years, covering Classes IX, X, XI, and XII, to help meritorious students continue their education without financial constraints.
