This initiative aims to streamline the admission process by providing a single-window system for applications. The SAMARTH portal follows the model of the earlier DARPAN portal, which was successfully introduced by the Assam Government for Higher Secondary first-year admissions.

The Directorate of Higher Education, Assam, has launched the SAMARTH Online Admission Portal for undergraduate courses. This platform simplifies the application process by allowing students to apply to multiple colleges through a single portal.
With SAMARTH, students can apply to a maximum of 10 institutes, reducing the need to submit separate applications for each institution. It ensures that no student applies to more than one institution at a time, avoiding any overlaps.
This portal also benefits colleges and the government, facilitating the direct implementation of various welfare schemes, and streamlining the admission process for all stakeholders.
